The issue of land titles for the Mt Johns Valley residential subdivision (pictured) is now imminent and over the next two months there will be “significant changes to the financial management and overall operations” of the Eastside, Flynn Drive and Hearne Place supermarkets, according to Sally McMartin, business manager of Lhere Artepe Enterprises (LAE).
She says the company linked to Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation has been reviewing its operations with a “strong focus on effective management” and ensuring that “finances are managed effectively.”
LAE sacked its CEO Darryl Pearce last month.
Ms McMartin says the board “is now transitioning from its entrepreneurial phase which occurred while LAE was establishing its economic arm, to a more stable organisational phase where a different management approach is needed as the business grows and activities are consolidated”.
A key concern had been “the slippage in timing of completion of the Mt Johns Stage 1 Project” but the subdivision “is again on track.
“This is has been achieved because the board has actively engaged with key stakeholders and regulators all of whom have indicated that the change in management structures has assisted in rebuilding confidence that LAE will achieve its objectives.
“Key stakeholders and regulators are clearly indicating their commitment to ensuring the speedy completion and success of the Mt Johns development,” says Ms McMartin.
“The LAE Supermarket Board is also meeting regularly with the general manger, Peter McGannon, [who] is working tirelessly to ensure that the continued viability of the LAE supermarkets and the Board is confident that this enterprise will continue to be a successful and profitable business for LAE.
“In taking greater control over the management of LAE Enterprises, the board is confident that having a strong focus on regaining operational discipline will ensure a robust future for LAE.”
Ms McMartin says key LAE position holders are Patricia Miller (chair) and directors Andrew Ross, Christine Charles and Peter Holden.

  1. How did all these positions come about? There is only one family recognised, Andy Ross. Where does Andy Ross come from? And Patricia Miller needs to go now.

  2. I totally agree with you William Craig. Who do these people think they are. Yesterday’s blackfellas. They need to look at themselves in the mirror. Swinging from branch to branch like lost lil monkeys, they need to search their own fathers’ family tree.

  3. Are you kidding me with that response? Really … name calling! Name calling is a result that occurs when people are so fearful of listening to others’ opinions. That you resort to immature name-calling is the action of a weak-mind person and you engage in it as a defence to your own ego. It’s good that all others white and black are reading this. As it really shows how much of a tinder box our little town has become. It is increasingly evident (to everyone) deep divisions exist in the Aboriginal community of our town. It’s sad, really. LAE exists … mistakes were made … let’s hope they are rectified … time to move on … TO … out.

So what the whole town of Alice is going to read it, they do not care about people’s opinion and their cultural rights in this township.
FYI I am not weak-mind person and I do not engaged in it as a defence to boost my own ego.
I am a strong Arrernte Kemarre woman, I know my place and cultural status.

  8. I’m a Arrernte Person as well, but I’m ashamed that all this is going on. And yes, we are the laughing stock, white people love this when blackfellas bitch and fight. They think it is our culture, and you know what, we play into their hands all the time. Everyone’s got lot to say on here, say it at the meetings, big mouths.
    Too much too say.

I do not have a big mouth, besides attending meetings to hear families argue and fights amongst themselves is sad. As for you, you love attending these meetings cause you get high on all the fightings, that’s your drug. As for me, I do not have a big mouth, FYI you do not know me.
White people love this when blackfellas bitch and fight: Cause people like you jump on the band wagon and think that you know all about traditional Arrernte way of life. You do not know the first thing about living in poverty, being called all kinds of names, because of the color of my skin.
Education was the key to my survival here and now, who do you think you judging me are calling me big mouth?
I’m an Arrernte woman, grew up in the bush, not in surburban streets of Alice.
    Kemarre … Out 🙂

It is YOU who feed on negative gossips. I am so sick of people like you exploiting our culture, language and judge my Arrernte people.
Everyday I see my people suffering because of people like YOU, who tends to help yourself and get into Cultural Corruption to sell off my forefather land.
Making profit to benefit your own lifestyle and guess who the biggest coconut … YOU.
My Arrernte people have NOTHING at the end of the day.
My Arrernte people are lost without strong leaders in this town.
My Arrernte people are living a sad, miserable life because of people like YOU.
My Arrernte people want cultural justice for people who done the things wrongly and that wrongful people created.
Where were these people back in the days? Being big Coconuts living it up in the city … Pathetic sums it all up. Kemarre … OUT :$ angry.
