Comment on Is the town over all the talk? by Dianne.

@Renee G – I wanted to attend last night, but wouldn’t attend by myself because of the issues in town.
To all of those who are saying that there is nothing wrong in this town – take a look around.
And Russell – I’ve been following your comments over the last bit of time and with all due respect, the nanny state does not need anymore supporters. Personal responsibility is what is needed – not more restrictions on people’s lives. Now have a go at me!

National Account figures: Territory last
Also just goes to show, what happens when you favour non-taxpaying businesses over private owned business, and use suppliers not based in the NT.
Might be time for government to start to have a look at where they are spending “their” money.

Town Council riven by conflict, lack of leadership
What a bunch of pathetic losers we have managed to inflict upon ourselves – Shame, Shame Shame.
We get it, people are in it for themselves. And there are conflicts of interest – but there always will be conflicts. At the end of the day, we had the Prime Minister visit the town and we want to bitch about the cost of the reception? Give me a break.
If you want to bitch about the costs to the town, let’s have a look around at the number of businesses that are being driven out of the town.
You have councillors running charities that are elbowing full tax paying businesses out of operation, you have council awarding work to out of town businesses, and meanwhile the Alice Springs based businesses are wondering how they can afford to pay their damned rates.
The vitriol that is directed at an Aboriginal woman who wants to put her hand up to try to make a difference.
I can’t figure out if the insults are directed at Ms Price herself or because she has the gumption to choose to run for a different side of politics.
We wonder why our kids are out of control when this is the example that you mob set. Grow up and do the damned job that you are paid to do!

There’s more to renewables than sunshine
Meanwhile, throughout the world, there is a growing realisation that the great climate con is all about the money and where it is flowing.
How much longer are people going to put up with this renewables fiasco?
It seems to have escaped a great number of politicians throughout the West that business = tax revenue and the more businesses that are driven out of operation by escalating costs the less real tax there is.

Ratepayer, do you want your money back?
They can give the damned money back!
We are taxed to the gunnels by all levels of government and enough is enough.

CLP pushes for oil & gas, including fracking
The arguments here over who is right or wrong are really moot.
The real question is how are we as a Territory going to pay for the services that our citizens need / demand.
If selling gas is the only option, then we sell gas.
We can no longer expect taxpayers in other struggling regional areas of the country to subsidise us $5.28 for every $1 we collect in GST revenues.

And just to highlight my personal views – I didn’t vote for the ALP because of their views on fracking / 50% renewables (which is totally unaffordable).
I voted for them because they weren’t Adam Giles.
