Comment on Is the town over all the talk? by Janet Brown.

We have issues of social chaos. But if you read with conviction you would agree that comments from persons such as Russell Guy, and Alex Nelson you would be right to conclude that they have no ability to empathise with victims of crime. Or is that they just plain don’t give a s**t about the people who live and survive the horrors they have endured. It was similar to Damian Ryan talking up the infrastructure of the town. What infrastructure, I am asking, and still forgetting that our town is made up of people. People who walk the streets run businesses and contribute to the town. It was obvious Mr Ryan does not notice that people live here. And that we are in real danger. He likes the Chief Minister and Alex Nelson would have you believe we have no issues and no social breakdown. Wow those rose coloured glasses. Or is it us. Is all that stuff happening or are we not seeing Alice as they do. Let’s leave it to them to teach us the lessons in delusions.

Is the town over all the talk?
So Mez it appears that Liz Martin was ill informed of who actually arranged the event. Again it appears the current mayor wants total control even over the organization of a privately arranged event. Damien Ryan knew of the tourism event so Liz needs to discuss the clash with Damien. Not put aspersions in the wrong area. Well today is the day. Not because Steve is my husband and I have known him since he was 16. He is a man of principle and conviction. He will do all he can to stop the train wreck that is currently happening in Alice due entirely to the inability of two mayors who took well to pomp and ceremony and ignored the people of our amazing town. Steve will push for change loudly and Territory and Federal governments will listen. Without Steve at the helm we really will have the same. No voice for Alice – silence is killing us. Fran and Damian both have ignored the plight of our town. The years have not be kind to us. Your vote today will ensure change if your vote is 1 Steve Brown for Mayor.

The millions and the misery
Jen, how many failed programs have you been employed with?
This is not about giving young people a voice this is about giving young people a safe space.
With people who care about their safety. Not a government program that employees robots who perform for the wages.
This project is about people supporting kids and ensuring their safety. Relax. Revive and not be throw on the street after the place closes.
Empathy and real compassion will be the base of volunteers.
Not a government position in a high needs spot. People who care. That is why we will succeed.

The millions and the misery
The perfect location.

Memo Club for 24/7 youth centre?
I really am not surprised by the responses by people who have been part of these failed programs.
And still are part of them. You all yell loudly the amount of agencies who are doing something.
Yet our you problems continue. These places are all individual pieces of the puzzle. Never to join up and offer real security and safety. Peace meal titbits.
What we are dissucissing is a community centre that is open and operating 24/7. Were kids have a place. The current supports while well meaning miss the big picture. Kids want security and safety. Couch surfing is not what I would call safety.
This will be a place to call into to relax. Get a feed and relax. Similar to a home environment one that will give opportunities to kids to make life choices on their voice.
I watched for the first time last night blind side. What a story. A story to reinforce the need for a place and people to care for our kids.
Those people who want to pat themselves on the back and protect themselves is the real shame of failing our kids.
We are taking a stand to provide safety and security to these kids. And you want to knock us for standing up for these kids. Really. I really do not care about your failures. I care about the kids.

Memo Club for 24/7 youth centre?
We need to open asap. We need showers, toilets, kitchen open areas. All this is in the Memo.
The Memo is the only place in town. I ask Donna to please support this. This is for our kids.
We hope to raise enough money to build a purpose centre. Right now we need the Memo club for this project to go ahead. For the sake of our local kids and the community.
Donna, we ask that you find time to talk to Steve and Congress work with us for the sake of our town. And their future. Please.
