It may be a very naive question, but I would like to know if there is a detox clinic in Alice Springs?

@1 Thank you Bob. It would be good to sometimes see statistics from such places – how many lives they turned around, how well they work, do they have enough funding and staff etc. I’ve been living in Alice for 24 years and not really aware of these options.

Electricity cost still up in the air, cuts by Feds a worry for council
@1 I got curious about this walkway too, even went digging into Council’s minutes. My guess is that the walk along the river from Barrett Drive to the end of Sturt Tce is quite nice already – maybe they are thinking of refining the path that goes further along the river to the Telegraph Station? I hear that at the moment it is very overgrown with weeds. If so it shouldn’t be a major work.

‘Out of date’ and ‘unpopular’ books go as library prepares for a facelift
Northern Territory is the only place in Australia that does not offer ebooks for loan. Joining interstate library to be able to get ebooks is cumbersome. I really really hope that NT libraries will get into the ebook loans soon – it will certainly solve storage problems. I’ve been using Alice’s library since 1988 and my impression is that they have less and less books on their shelves. Core activity for libraries is to hold and lend books – and this should be an absolute priority when floor space is scarce.
