In my opinion Mr Chlanda is “abroadly” experienced, self motivated, tenacious towards the truthful ethics of journalism and a cherished local ratbag in the most complementary sense of the word. He is media savvy, as opposed to a media social junkie. Erwin Chlanda constitutes what being a great Australian means. Yet great people, like Erwin, are not the kind to find themselves on any Australia Day awards lists. Such recipients are normally from the old money and crony(ied) “Mayfair” set.

I concur with the comments of all of the previous writers. Having had personal experience of your ethical journalism I believe that our town is better off with you and your team at the helm of the Alice Springs News Online. I also acknowledge that this comes with a high personal cost to you all.

The WORD is the strongest weapon on earth, Erwin. And you and Kieran are masters of the Word. I am proud that you did not sell out. What an appalling thought that all those carefully written WORDS would be squandered for money! Alice Springs will be better off now, because as you said: The Alice Springs News might well be the most important archives in existence about our town.

As a long term reader of ASN I appreciate your candour in providing an update about what is largely a private and sensitive matter and obviously one that has caused you and yours a great deal of pain.
Unfortunately, defamation action is an occupational hazard for journalists and it’s to your credit that you have done 37 years of journalism and 20 odd at Alice Springs without running into any serious previous trouble. Hopefully, you and ASN will be around for a while yet.

Financial woes notwithstanding, I hope you are able to maintain your principles and high standards while searching for the truth that is out there, and that you can and will continue to help bring the Alice Springs News (now online) to an appreciative and growing audience.
Somehow I don’t see the Alice Springs News maintaining much of value as a trade organ, real estate or other.
