The Alice Plaza in the northern Todd Mall is forging ahead with plans to fill some empty spaces in the shopping centre – and lure more people to that part of town.

“We’re trying to create some excitement,” says manager Kate Freestone, referring to “a new concept fresh food supermarket” for the north-eastern corner.

She says Wicked Kneads will occupy the shop alongside the main entrance in the south-eastern corner.

And there are other changes: “Watch this space” was all Miss Freestone was happy to say at this stage.

  1. I have an idea to make better use of the mall: Make the shops with major frontage to the mall remove their big stickers from the windows and let people ‘window shop’ while walking down the mall. Almost every shop you can’t see in without going into the shop. It would make it a more inviting area. End of rant.

  2. Forging ahead? Not something one would normally associate with Alice Springs. Crime, drunks and general bone-headedness lead the way.
