Price, de Brenni confirmed as new councillors

The two new members of the Alice Springs Town Council are Jamie de Brenni, 2926 votes after preferences, and Jacinta Price, 2791 votes.
 
Jason Quin came third.
 
The four candidates “excluded” in the preference count – in that order – were Caroline Phelps, Ryan Callander, Barbara Shaw and Vince Jeisman.
 
This was announced by the Electoral Commission this afternoon.
 
p2283-council-de-BrenniCr de Brenni, in a brief speech, said he was proud to now be part of a council which has “the demographics right to go forward”.
 
Fionn Griffin spoke on behalf of Ms Price, who Ms Griffin said was interstate on a business trip. She was saying “thank you to “all the residents who voted for her and the volunteers who helped her”.

  1. Doesn’t take them long to get into pollie speak jingoism: “To go forward.”
    But: “The demographics right” meaning ahh … they elected me so now the council has the right mix. What else could it mean? Goodness, that’s a bit arrogant.

  2. Congratulations to the two elected Councillors. May they lead well for the good of the Alice Springs’s people in their new roles.
