Sir – I visited Alice Springs a few years ago. Everywhere I visit, I purchase a souvenir shot glass.

Recently my shelf at home with these on collapsed, and several broke.

Distraught that I could not replace these, I emailed Alice Springs, Katherine, and Coffs Harbour councils to see if they could possibly put me in contact with a local shop that could help me out.

Not only was Alice Springs the only one to get back to me, but Loraine Dalwood-Mason, who is the Senior Records Officer with Alice Springs Town Council, not only answered my email, but went out of her way and purchased, wrapped and posted out one to me in NSW.

All at her own cost. When I thanked her, and offered to reimburse her, she would not have a bar of it, saying she was happy to do it.

This really is a lovely and unexpected thing to do.  I really am impressed at this lady doing this for me.

  1. Lorraine, we all hear that the best thing about Alice Springs is its people. Seeing this article should make you proud that you are one of those people. Well done for your efforts.

  2. Wow! Well done Lorraine. I remember when you provided me with a shot glass! Act of kindness paid forward!
