Comment on Greens on Pine Gap: Move towards non-aligned foreign policy by Mark Wilson.

Yes Peter, I cannot disagree with your arguments. Pine Gap is a perfect target.
But can we expect anyone to come to our aid if we do nothing to play our part in an alliance?
Nothing is guaranteed except that without supporting our allies we can never expect them to support us. That much does seem certain.
Peter, you seem to obliquely acknowledge the role that nuclear deterrents played throughout the Cold War. Would you prefer we do a Chamberlain and look the other way if another Hitler arises and rely on others to deal with the problem?
Do you live in Alice Peter? For how long? Do you feel that this town would exist with anything like its present prosperity without Pine Gap? I suspect that our lifestyle and prosperity here has much to do with the American presence. If you are genuinely so concerned that you are in real danger living here, the solution for you and yours seems rather obvious.

Greens on Pine Gap: Move towards non-aligned foreign policy
Life itself is a risk Di Natale. To minimise the risk, to walk away and do nothing we simply permit North Korea to become even more emboldened.
China also in the disputed South China Sea presents a real risk to the region and world peace.
When the day of reckoning arrives who will come to our aid? If Pine Gap adds risk to us then so be it. THAT is the price we must pay.
The Americans, the UK, the Chinese and no-doubt the North Koreans undertake physical and/or cyber surveillance intel here. That is the nature of international relations and the world.
Can someone tell Di Natale that we have emus, not ostriches here?

Global traveller ran out of power only on the Stuart Highway
Would be a real accomplishment if the power he plugged into to recharge was actually renewable power. Most I suspect would have been fossil fuel based. So what precisely did it achieve, I wonder. Think I’ll wait for the hydrogen car.

Gallery business case far from ‘well underway’
Is everyone as confused as me? So, more consultants are needed until they serve up the desired outcome? Maybe the Minister should have said “plans for plans are well under way”.
All sounds quite a fiasco. So, fix the brief to fix the desired NT Government outcome and dress it up as consultancy. I really must be missing something. Silly me. Forgive me, please.

Lhere Artepe director on aggravated assault charge
That we are having this conversation of said assault by a person emerging from the court on aggravated assault charges confirms that naivety aside, that too many people do have the attitude as described by Trevor.
We witness this type of behaviour daily. It is not wholly confined to Indigenous either. Our society has encouraged a sense of entitlement and a tolerance of unsatisfactory behaviour.

Visions from the Centre to light up the Sydney Opera House
How wonderful is this! The Opera House has become such an amazing canvas for all sorts of causes.
I do hope that the space is used for inclusive and not divisive causes of City of Sydney Council and NSW Government.

Will more consultants get tourism out of the mire?
Sorry Local 1, you don’t qualify for a consultancy fee on two grounds:
1. You’re a local and may see our town up close and holistically.
2. You speak too much common sense. Cannot possibly be a bloated “consultant”.
