Comment on Government alcohol policies a giant hangover by Gavin Carpenter.

$12m for bottle shop watchers! It is not a taxpayer’s responsibility. Send the wages account to the bottle shops at the end of every month. If not paid the place is shut down.
Why only Tennant for new grog rules? Is there not a problem in the rest of the Territory?
Over the years Tennant has been a favourite to be hammered with various grog rules, none of which have worked.
How about all of you pollies show some of the necessaries, get out of the pockets of the grog industry and make some hard decisions, rules and laws that are made in the interests of Territorians and for the Territory as a whole.
In true Territorian speak, show some balls!

Don’t mess with our treasures, says Alice
I’m not sure it should be heritage listed as the many changes made over the years have taken away the original concept.
My understanding is that if heritage listed any further alterations or repairs would not or could not be done without problems as has been proved elsewhere.
They then fall into disrepair and eventually fall down anyway. Is there another way of saving heritage without the restrictions of total heritage listing?

Some great meals had at the walk-in cafe run by Billy Woods in the 60s. Steak and eggs cooked straight on the top of a big wood stove was a favorite.

Vowles, McConnell and Collins dumped from Caucus
Vowles being pushed by the press made more sense in 5 minutes than any pollie has in the last 5 years. Spin is all the current mob know.
Time there was a complete clean out of broken down advisors and spin doctors, all being paid well above their capabilities.

Air traffic: Looking down on Alice
Can’t help but being a cynic, direct flights from China then on to The Rock for 24 hours and back to Darwin to catch the return flight to China, with a short time spent in Darwin and surrounds.
What else have the Government cooked up?
As for the press release saying how good it all is, just more spin and garbage pumped out by half baked minders who would have difficulty getting a real job.

NT Govt persists with push for Anzac Oval ownership
The only thing definite about this art gallery is that the government really has no idea of what to do or how to go about it.
It puts out pollie talk press releases and advertising at great expense that say nothing of consequence.
When some concrete plans, designs and ideas are presented it may encourage people to go along with what is proposed and even be involved with the final result.
Until then bully boy tactics by the government and their minders will continue to get people off side and dig in harder against the whole issue.

Council shoots Anzac precinct gallery down in flames
The council have finally found some intestinal fortitude, well done to all.
Now is the time for the government to start afresh with some genuine consultations, some constructive ideas and plans and a desire to do what they are elected to do, govern for the community.
Has this whole incompetent fiasco been the elected government as such or is the tale wagging the dog as has been happening for years? The beauracts running the place like the famous Yes, Minister?
