Comment on News to us, say councillors on Anzac Hill development by Russell.

The irony of Eli Melky putting about a petition based on a poll from a closed facebook page is not lost on me.
Going off half cocked in a tantrum because he has not been trusted with the full concept while it is still being developed.
If he succeeds in sinking this significwnt development in Central Australia, he will then move on to complaining about the lack of development and investment.
How is your mentoring of Dyllan Voller going Eli? You jumped on that band wagon when you thought you could get some political milage out of him.

Crunch time in Anzac Oval standoff
Is the gallery being built ON ANZAC Oval? This is new information or misinformation. Fact is, the community will gain significant benefit from the ANZAC site. Other then the repeated cries that nobody came to my home and asked me my own personal opinion, there has been no fact based explanation as to what the comnunity will lose.
The council survey was flawed. Multiple responses from multiple devices or even multiple locations would not be filtered out. IP addresses change each time you logon or off your internet unless you subscribe to a static IP. Government forward facing proxy servers would all look like the same device.
I support the ANZAC Oval site. It has far more positive outcomes then negative. My only concern is where will the money come from?
Citing other community issues such as crime and youth issues as reasons not to do it is ridiculous. Crime and youth issues have been the same for generations in this part of the country. If we stop everything until that is resolved, we will never ever get anywhere.
We need to continue to grow the town and improve the appeal of the town centre. Take our blinkers off and support development innitiatives for our town before it is too late.

‘Our’ gallery: Will Gunner, Ryan slay the dragon stealing it?
With so many anti-progressive pissants in town, this place is doomed to become another fuel stop on the way to Adelaide.
Most of the arguments against the plan were irrelevant because the people making them failed to educate themselves.
Loss of greenspace and access were the main gripes and neither were actual issues because we would have better, more accessible greenspace.
Plenty of people support the plan but have been shouted down and are afraid of the angry mob who just want to fight against anything the government puts forward and then complain that the government doesn’t do anything.
Bloody rent a crowds protesting everything and achieving nothing.
ANZAC Oval is a wasted site. It is prime location in the CBD which I cannot use because it has a bloody great fence around it.
I can’t use the greenspace along the Todd because of the wasted itinerants. Greenspace is only useful if you can access it.
And you [people] who complain you werent consulted … if you take yourself off the grid, proud that you dont watch TV, read the paper, antisocial media etc … how is anyone supposed to consult with you?
You were complaining you werent consulted … during the consultation period! You exist to complain!

National Indigenous gallery process hijacked?
Personally, i believe the ANZAC oval site is the better option. It will bring people into the township rather then taking them out of town where there are less facilities and less visibility. People, including locals, will be encouraged to visit the gallery more frequently as it is simply a short walk from the CBD. The project was about revitalising Alice Springs. Locals and businesses have been complaining about the lack of activity in the CBD. But now an option comes up to do exactly that and you want to push it out of town again…

Hordes of kids rampage: 50 cars hit
Eli, the government isn’t to blame. It is the failure of successive indigenous organisations like ATSIC, CLC to deal with the issues that they themselves have a major role in creating. They have the power and the connections to deal with these issues culturally. Anyone who says this is not issue created from generations of irresponsible handouts with no oversight is simply burying their head in the sand and are themselves a major part of the problem.

Clearly Josie [Douglas] on QnA recently is not effected by this problem and showed no idea of what was happening with royalty monies. She cries for self determination but refuses to take responsibility for the problems.

The elders need to get up and take control of these kids or risk having them removed and put into a safe environment ie foster care. If the adults/parents want change in their society, they have to start taking action. The town is sick n tired of cleaning up after another night of rampaging juveniles.

[William] Tilmouth and Jacinta [Price] both accepted that these kids need to be held accountable and taught respect. Social housing would be nice, but because these people destroy anything given to them, the government simply can’t afford to build more.

The government wont teach them respect. The council and police wont teach them respect. That is a cultural issue. Get off your arses and do what you are paid to do and drag your people into this century. Make them accountable and make the consequences of their decisions real.
