Do I remember that the grand stand of Anzac Oval …

Comment on ‘Anzac Oval not for sale’: govt under pressure on gallery plans by Maya.

Do I remember that the grand stand of Anzac Oval was redone in an improved version not so long ago?
In opposition to new virgin land, a fantastic backdrop, no relocation costs, no demolition cost, no feelings hurt, a clear slate to draw the national (not local, not NT, but national, to make Canberra envious) Aboriginal art gallery, next to the land, birds and ecosystems of the Desert Park.
I definitely cannot see what the current NT Government sees in the Anzac site … unless, indeed, they hide some ulterior motives that the “electorate” should not know.
Please rethink, reconsider, or tell us WHY!

Human rights, centre stage
I rejoyce at the honour received by Jodie and Rainer. Long term perseverance in working daily for what we call social justice.
Social additional to plain justice to express that it implies justice for any social group which is discriminated against.
In this respect I advocate for learning more than one language.
To remain monolingual in a multicultural society is a contradiction in term.

Gallery reference group co-chairpersons announced
I endorse Charlie’s remarks.
In Francesca Cubillo’s fine mind I trust.

Air traffic: Looking down on Alice
Sad to see Hon Lauren Moss MLA not fighting for Alice Springs and its survival.
What sort of Tourism Minister is she? Thanks to Warren our Federal MP to speak up for us.
After all he lives here with us and so is his large family.
Perhaps seeing it in reverse, to increase the number of flights and making them slightly cheaper will incite people to come here and locals to go south east and west more often, therefore increasing the number of sales two-ways. A win-win?

Coles Mural: Government, Heritage Council fall silent
The mural shows part of our history, the way we were, and it would be bad to get rid of any sign of our past.
On the past we build the future. Without past we are nothing just floating in limbo.
It is not so much the artistic value of the mural which counts but what it represents in the timeline if our development. So little has been kept of the beginnings of Mbantua.
They may be humble but this is a record.
Lauren Moss should appreciate the value of the our recent history. The dollar sign does not match.

Will the Old Anzac Hill Highschool site remain open to vandalisn of this kind when the National Aboriginal Art Gallery is erected there? What measures will be taken to avoid broken glass and stolen works of art?
