Police arrested three girls aged 10, 11 and 13 following an unlawful entry and theft of a motor vehicle which resulted in a pursuit at the weekend.
It is alleged the girls unlawfully entered an occupied home in Gillen where they found car keys and stole the occupant’s vehicle.
Around 10:30pm police observed the stolen vehicle which failed to stop, according to a police media statement.
The vehicle eventually stopped at a Larapinta Drive fuel station and the three offenders were arrested by police when fleeing the vehicle.
The 13-year-old was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle; driving dangerously during a police pursuit, at dangerous speeds and unlicensed.
Two other girls “will be subject to youth diversion actions,” says the statement.

The freedom of the press still furnishes that check upon government which no constitution has ever been able to provide – Chicago Tribune.
“Youth diversion actions.” What a joke. It’s this “don’t do it again or else” mentality that has given us a 31% increase in car thefts.
And the Gunner Corporation wants to lift the age of criminal responsibility. At least it will keep some of his union public service mates busy, I guess.
I know what I would do if these were my kids.
I guess when you don’t have a responsible adult as a parent / guardian then this will happen.
It’s a shame the Government doesn’t have measures in place to take action about people not fit to be parents / guardians.
Oh, wait, they do: It is just close your eyes and think happy thoughts.
I don’t know how the police do it, over and over again with no change.
Just imagine the savings in police time and youth mental capacity if the Government did what needs to be done and have a real deterrent.
