Comment on The financial crisis in the Northern Territory by James T Smerk.

Great article.

The Feds need to distribute more GST to the Territory so that they can provide for remote communities as there is a huge expense there and unfortunately I suspect most of these remote communities that the NT supply services and infrastructure to do not add to the NT’s revenue stream, which is a shame as there is rich culture there which is being overshadowed by the negative aspects and the NTG and the Elders seem fine with that, just look at the prison stats about.

There indeed does need to be a new system of determining how best to help the Indigenous peoples and it needs to be means tested. I know of a person who claims this anywhere they can, with their blue eyes, blond hair, very fair skin and very wealthy family and they don’t even remotely associate with any Aboriginal cultural aspects, but it’s still there so they cash in where they can. While the poor disadvantaged person living harsh has to compete against them for benefits and special requirements in jobs.

The aspect of other states miraculously increasing their numbers in the last Census just goes to show it’s not working.

Help from fracking campaigner, or manipulating students?
It seems obvious that this group were used to push additional protesting at the same time.
I would be interested in knowing how many of these people / kids practice what they preach and do things at their own homes to limit their effect on the climate?
When they go home turn the split system on, fire up their computer games, iPads and munch on lollies with plastic wrappers lying around.
Good on them for protesting their beliefs. I only hope they were their beliefs and not those of others.

No juvenile prison in your back yard: Dale Wakefield

$65m for children at risk case management system
All this money and nothing will change until what needs to be done is done.
Kids are not going to grow strong or healthy without role models and sadly these kids in question don’t have one.
So the answer is get them good role models, any way possible.

NT state final demand declines further
The Commonwealth should be helping by offering tax incentives for people who live in the NT. It is not a large population so they wouldn’t be risk much money offering something.

Santa Teresa wins housing class action against NT Government
If only there were unemployed people around who could perform handyman duties (or be training in them) as required, with Housing picking up the tab.
Or just keep it as normal and pay $1000 every time there is a leaking tap for a tradie to drive out there and fix it.
Sometimes simple suggestions are the best.
