Hi, I completely agree with the Lone Dingo on this matter.
As an Environmental Advisor, Steve Brown should disclose his credentials in the field of environmental management/science before he goes about discrediting some of the work associated with Alice Water Smart or the “mentality” of some of those involved.

Town Council: protect Alice water from fracking
ASTC already has a motion to say no to fracking. They should be putting in a submission to reiterate their current stance.
As for Jacinta’s lack of attendance … no surprises there.

Tree death and the challenge of heatwaves
This needs a thorough investigation and forward planning. Is the water table lower in Eastside? What’s happening underground. What can Council do to limit the tree deaths? Should they be reducing the number of new plantings so they can put more effort into supporting the growth of the trees they do plant? I think Council also needs to talk more about this issue with residents as so many trees on residential blocks are being lost too. Climate emergency, anyone?

Council platitudes in response to residents’ anger
Did council need any environmental approvals from the NT Government for this?
Land clearing applications etc?
Did they have any kind of environmental planning? They removed native plants, right?

Help from fracking campaigner, or orchestrating students?
What a strange angle for this article. I attended the rally and was impressed by the speeches, the turnout, and the witty banners made by the young people of Alice.
Let’s not forget that we’ve just had the hottest summer on record (again), an unprecedented number of days of 40C in Alice and large parts of the country were recent ablaze or flooded.
The climate has already changed and I’m so glad these fantastic young people are on the streets making their voices heard, with or without adult supporters.

Morrison announces cash injection for NT
And this was announced right after the NT lifted its moratorium on fracking.
