Comment on Town council candidate had restraining order by Erwin Chlanda.

@ Ray, November 6, 2013 at 4:49 pm:
We take another view and so, quite obviously, does Mr Bridgefoot who spoke to me without hesitation: Isn’t it best for that kind of revelation to become public before, rather than after the election?
While our report doesn’t make any value judgments, we’re conscious that Leo Abbott’s political career was destroyed by a similar court order. And we disclosed, also before the election, that council candidate Des Rogers, standing for council some years ago, had been in gaol (and even broken out) many years earlier. Google the stories!
This is not the only coverage we will be giving to Mr Bridgefoot during the campaign.

Printed Centralian Advocate soon to fold
@ Dr George Toepfer: The opposite is true. Our online newspaper is putting people in the outback on par with the rest of the world.
Most remote communities now have mobile phone and online service and as such they have access to the Alice Springs News at a level that could never be imagined with printed papers.
I am speaking with first-hand experience: For the first 15 of our 26 years in publication the best we could do was to send bundles of papers to the bush stores, with significant delays and little certainty that they would be displayed and picked up by shoppers. (In town we provided home delivery.)
Now these outback phone and computer users have exactly the same access to the News as do people in Alice Springs, Frankfurt and Cape Town and New York. And many are quite advanced in years.

Do what I do: a lesson for the government, police
@ Devil’s Advocate: Ms Finnane was at Atitjere / Harts Range on December 4, 2019. She drove past the police station. The direct line distance between the community and the police station is 1.5 kms.

CAAMA ‘drowning in debt’: Regulator
@ “Sandy”: Thank you for your comment. The figures you say you have no access to are freely available from the ORIC website. That is where it seems “Jack” obtained his information, and the Alice Springs News has referred to it many times.

Could this be the end of the CLP Opposition?
@ “David”: Thank you for your comment. Mark J Smith was quoting a statement by ABC election analyst Antony Green on Twitter about the preference issue you are raising. Mark wrote his comment piece a few hours after the poll closed. He would have found it hard to do a fact check at that time: The Alice Springs News asked the CLP office for the mobile phone numbers and email addresses of all the party’s endorsed candidates, but those contact details were denied to us. They are not on the website.
