The Alice Springs News Online understands that the Drug and Alcohol Services Association (DASA) has sacked its CEO, Margo MacGregor.

She declined to comment other than to say she is seeking legal advice.

The organisation’s secretary, Michael Gehring (pictured), also declined to comment except to say DASA will be releasing a statement in a day or two.

The organisation was embroiled in a major controversy last year when the CEO at that time, Paul Finlay, resigned unexpectedly.

Last financial year DASA received $2.1m from the NT Government to provide alcohol and other drug services in Alice Springs, including the Sobering Up Shelter, rehabilitation beds, community withdrawal, and counselling in Alice Springs.

According to a source the current troubles are linked to Mr Finlay’s departure.

  1. The president lives in Darwin drinking latte in Mitchell Street while the organisation is in chaos. No finance manager, staff have no direction due to the sacking of the CEO (as written above), only three board members including the president are attempting to be strong and united but they are fully aware that they have slipped up. So come on President, make a statement! I feel like a giggle!
