Desert Knowledge chairman Ken Johnson (pictured) says the board is seeking further details about the multi-million dollar proposal of the Hatzimihail Group for the precinct south of The Gap.

He says as part of the ongoing due diligence process the group is being asked for a detailed business plan, and to provide proof of the value of the group’s assets.

This would include documentation the value of the company, and of the ownership of licenses, intellectual property and patents it owns.

Dr Johnson says the proposed international student hub would bring “2000 or 3000 students, maybe more, into town. This calls for a social impact management plan.

“The services required for the proposed number of students would need to be understood and the necessary provisions identified.”

Dr Johnson says the precinct is a public asset.

“The board is keeping an open mind,” he says.
