Cops target domestic violence offenders

Sir – Strike Force Romulus detectives arrested seven people following a two day operation targeting domestic and family violence in Alice Springs.
 
They were charged with a range of offences including aggravated assault, breach of Domestic Violence Order, breach of bail and outstanding warrants.
 
Police also conducted 31 Domestic Violence Order and Alcohol Protection Order compliance checks, served seven Domestic Violence Orders, issued two summons notices and took four people into protective custody.
 
In a separate incident Police arrested a 19-year-old male on Saturday after he allegedly assaulted his pregnant 20-year-old partner in Alice Springs CBD.
 
He was charged with aggravated assault and served a Domestic Violence Order.
 
He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on April 13.
 
Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to violence of any kind. Safety is everyone’s right and we will hold offenders to account for their actions.
 
Operation Romulus will continue to target the perpetrators of domestic and family violence in the region.
