p2230-Harts-Range-policeSomeone gave popping into the cop shop a brand new meaning: He drove his car right up to the front counter of the police station at Harts Range, 120 kilometres north east of Alice Springs.

Territory Duty Superintendent Brendan Muldoon said the vehicle was deliberately driven through the front doors of the station just before 10pm last night.

He says: “Police are searching for a 42-year-old man who was involved in an earlier incident with night patrol officers who alleged the man was agitated and driving in a reckless manner.

“The man has allegedly thrown a wheel spanner at the night patrol vehicle and driven the car at speed towards the police station.

“The station was vacant at the time but sustained damage to the front glass doors and rear roller doors.”

Supt Muldoon said the alleged offender had then driven off in the direction of the Plenty Highway.

“We don’t not think he would have travelled far as damage left behind suggests he would have no working headlights, no front numberplate nor a front bumper bar.

“The car may still have the rear numberplate attached which is SA registered S145 AVI.

“We are asking anyone who sights the dark blue Ford Falcon utility, with front end and possible rear end damage, to please contact police on 131 444 or Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

  1. Don’t worry. We will build a new one like Yuendumu, a small price, $6m worth. On the bright side, look at the employment he has created. A little bit more wasted money won’t hurt.
