Councillor Liz Martin (pictured), the driving force behind the hugely successful National Transport Hall of Fame, has resigned from the town council.
This means her vacancy can be filled in the October 10 by-election already declared to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councillor Kylie Bonanni.
Council CEO Rex Mooney says Cr Martin’s letter of resignation is effective immediately.
“She has been on a leave of absence since April this year, however has chosen to formally step down in light of the forthcoming by-election.”
Mayor Damien Ryan says: “Cr Martin has been an enthusiastic and engaged elected member since first being elected to Council in March 2008.
“I thank her for her time served as Deputy Mayor and for her active work in the community; I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
