Comment on Greens on Pine Gap: Move towards non-aligned foreign policy by Stanley Morley.

Pine Gap and our alliance with the US today is stronger than ever.
The US know the Pacific now is a playground for China’s navy and they look with interest at US Bases within Australia, as do the Indonesians who wants to become a super power.
If we don’t have Pine Gap we have no surveillance systems for predator drones to our north in the south and north China Sea, now the Chinese bases in the Pacific.
You have to ask yourself why is China so interested this far south, why is Indonesia asking Australia to close US bases, while they build a fighter strike force base south of West Papua.
While there are “what ifs” there will be a ring of surveillance systems and strike force in the north.
