Comment on Flag on the Hill: When No became Yes by Scotty.

@ Mabel: I have to totally agree. Others can put their head in the sand and make up all the excuses in the world. Fact is fact.
An article the other day in Advocate was criticizing the fact that all juveniles in the detention centre were Aboriginal. Well, if Aboriginal juveniles stop committing crimes they would not be in the detention centre.
Passed Centrelink the other day and found it a joke. Aboriginals sitting out front, getting a free ride in society by taxpayers money, looking up at Anzac Hill Aboriginal flag. Well if that’s what they want to be proud of.

Kamara, why are you offended? Did I ever say all 25,000 Arrernte people were not making a contribution to society.
If you read my comment I say “a lot”. If you do not think there are alot of Arrernte people not contributing, committing crimes and being imprisioned in this town, you have your head in the sand.
What do you mean: “This is our home! If you don’t like what’s happening here go back to your home!”
Alice Springs is my home. Australia is my home. Last time I looked there is still an Australian flag on top of Anzac Hill.

Everlyn: Of course there were not 25,000 Arrernte people sitting in front of Centrelink.
A lot were sitting out bush doing nothing. Others sitting on cement next to the taxi rank in
Bath Street.
Others (juveniles) were breaking into people’s houses, damaging property and also bashing innocent people for valuables.
Oh, I forgot the large amount of Arrernte people in the Correctional Centre also.
Yep, thats what they want to be proud of.

Curfew: sixth time lucky for Cr Melky?
Remember the old days when as youngsters we feared the local sergeant and police in general.
Not now, Police are scrutinised 24/7, have to wear body worn video and cannot work as they want to do.
Bring back old days when if someone was silly enough to muck around they would get a good clip around the ear at the least.
Too many do-gooders these days and until Police are allowed to do their job properly, problem will always be there.
Curfew is a waste of time. Police are not babysitters or parents.

Three killed in road crash
Sorry to be harsh but the offending driver got what he deserved. The only people I feel sorry for are the innocent people in the other vehicle.
Let me guess, the offending driver was an Aboriginal. Not being racist, just an educated guess.
Erwin, I know you might not let this post go through but we all know the truth about whats happening in this town. Why is it wrong to say how it is?

[ED – There was only one person in the other vehicle who was not seriously injured.]

Damien Ryan’s youth curfew dilemma
Night Patrol. Youth Bus. What a waste of money.
Police. They are too busy in this town. Do you expect them to enforce the curfew?
I have a great idea. Remember when you were young and respected police.
If you didn’t they would kick you up the arse and then take you home and tell your parents what you had been up too.
Your dad would then belt you for getting into trouble.
Nowadays, and it will get worse, kids think they can do what they want.
Damaging property and assaulting innocent persons.
The day will come when they pick on the wrong person.

‘Cop will be labelled for the rest of his life as a blackfeller killer’
@ John Bell: Agree with you totally John. Wouldn’t it be great to put these keyboard warriors in a training scenario where they have to deal with an edged weapon attacker.
Now after they do get stabbed (which they will) think about real life. You are dead possibly. Police have a right to defend themselves, gun v edged weapon.
Don’t attack police. Why do police carry guns. To protect themselves and others.
@ Davo: You watch too much US TV shows.
@ FTP: Like to see you disarm armed offender on edged weapon. Read John’s comments and study edged weapon v gun situations (Youtube).
@ Confused: Refer above.

“The new ones, the young ones – maybe their uniform makes them tough. So they shoot a black man.”
I don’t think so. So all new and young police officers are like this? Are all young Aboriginals criminals?
The truth is the a lot of young Aboriginals today have no respect for the law. Always breaking in, assaulting people, stealing, etc.
Now we have a situation where the young Aboriginal assaulted an innocent person who was a police officer. Bit off more than he could chew. Now all the do-gooders are saying he was a top bloke. I think we are smarted than that.
Maybe this will sink into the other young Aboriginals who think they can break the law without penalty.
