Comment on Megafauna museum: Locals outnumber tourists by Evelyne Roullet.

Because I am very curious about all sorts of statistics I rang the museum and asked how those figures are created.
I was told: “We simply ask people if they are locals or visitors.”
Interesting, as I have never been asked.

How were those numbers are worked out?

A troubling snapshot of disadvantage
Statistics have no uses if they do not come with real practical solutions.
I am certain we can see all those problems without having the exact numbers.
We know the kids should be off the streets at night: Solutions?
We know they must have a safe environment and healthy ways of life: Solutions?
We know about no education – no good job – poor mental health: Solutions?
I would like to say to all those highly educate professors / doctors / researchers what my parents and grandparents used to tell me: “Do not come to me with your problems if you have not a solution to offer.”

2020 poll: Can Territory Alliance be a political force?
@ Dr Who Posted January 10, 2020 at 9:41 pm: “Good God, when will the NT have some new fresh up coming politicians who want to advance the Territory instead of recycling these same old hacks that need to be put out to pasture?”
When the voters decide to give a go to new faces, new names.

Chance for NT Government to get cracking on fires
Yes Erwin, and I read it with a great interest, but it was mainly for the countryside.
What also concern me is the town and suburbs.
Some yards are a fire hazard and not every street has fire hydrants and those cannot be used if the services are out of town.

Chance for NT Government to get cracking on fires
As fires continue to burn across the states of Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania the time has come for our so called leaders to prepare for the same eventuality.
Do we have an emergency plan? Could council workers take notice of the residential gardens which could be a fire hazard not only for themselves and their neighbours in the same manner that they clear / cut trees hanging over a fence because it supposedly a danger for pedestrians?
The fire and rescue services will not be able to cope with bushfires and town fires.

[ED – We reported recently about the about the NT Government’s inadequate preparedness.]

Street kids: What cops can do
End of year is the time for parties! I suggest to parents of all creeds, skin colour and social statute, do not to look for a baby sitter for your children if they want to go out. Let them loose in the Mall.
Assistant Commissioner Narelle Beer and Dale Wakefield will take care of them while you have great time.
