Erwin, on occasions I have disagreed with articles that have been published.
I have to say I totally agree with your analysis of this article.
Great work.

Bottle shop cops need to be brought into line: local chain
Doogety: Stop making excuses. When people stop making excuses maybe Alice Springs will get somewhere.
The offenders (yes offenders) know they cannot buy alcohol and still attempt to every day of the week. Good on the PALI officer for asking mainly Aboriginal people for ID.
It is not racial profiling, he/she is just making informed educated decision that most offenders (buying alcohol when not allowed) are Aboriginal.

Bottle shop cops need to be brought into line: local chain
For people who have been long time residents of Alice Springs and remember of how it used to be: You couldn’t go to the shops without being confronted by drunken violence.
I’d say without a doubt 99% of the offenders were Aboriginal.
Just a fact and I know that’s just a minority of a proud and lawful race. Now we have PALIs at the bottle shops and the problems have improved dramatically.
So, things have improved and now Lhere Artepe Supermarkets are complaining about a few PALI questions to people.
I have nothing to hide and have been asked many times for my ID and where I am consuming the alcohol I purchase.
Long gone thankfully are the days of illegal irresponsible service of alcohol by liquor outlets.

Lambley says Gunner won’t discuss rising crime
I have finally resorted to self protection. A firearm is in my household and if anyone breaks in I’m going to use it.
As Robyn has stated the NT (Alice Springs) crime rate is out of control.
No longer do I have confidence that government organisations (police, etc.) can protect innocent citizens. Not the police’s fault, their hands are tied.
The justice system is a joke. The offenders go to court smiling and are proud to brag to other offenders regarding their illegal acts. They get bail and re-offend. I personally think judges should be held accountable.
I have also bought a trained guard dog from interstate.
I guarantee no one is coming into my yard. You might think I am bragging or going to far.
For me my family is priority. Pity I had to resort to this to protect my residence and family in Alice Springs.

Wowser games?
Well done NT Government.
We are pulling out our team that we had organised to participate in the Masters Games.
Will not even consider participating again until full strength beer, wine and spirits are back on the menu.
We will take our money elsewhere.
Sorry to the hard working event organizers.

Five youths arrested after armed robbery
Mabel: Could not agree with a comment more than yours.
This town is out of control with Aboriginals. People are civilized and do not rob, bash, steal from innocent people.
I agree more police are needed in this town but the bigger issue is what happens to the people when they are arrested and front court.
Back in the 60s and 70s gaol with hard labour was usual. Bring back tough sentencing instead of the slap on the wrist from lenient judges.
Offenders should be responsible for their actions. No excuses brought up in court for their illegal actions. Sentencing should be harsh just like the old days.
