CLP would return 'Juvie' to Corrections. Curfew maybe.

Youth Justice will be immediately returned to Corrections if the CLP returns to power in August, says Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro (pictured) who will be visiting Alice Springs on Thursday.

“Every youth offender will, if diverted, undertake community service,” she says in a media release.

“The community deserves to see real consequences and community service offers a meaningful and effective option if incarceration is not required.

Victims need to come first, she says: “Territorians have had enough of the Labor Government’s ‘offender first’ polices where the victim is forgotten.

“The best answers to crime often come from the communities impacted, and they will be different across our Territory. Solutions like curfew in Alice Springs, if supported by the Alice Springs community, will be implemented.”

  1. A welcome comment by the Leader of the Opposition.
ALP, ball is now in your court as I believe the election in Alice will be won and lost on crime.
At least we have a real starting position to debate over Mr Gunner, what will the ALP do?
Leave the matter in the portfolio of Families which has failed, big time?
