LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Sir – Who’s gonna step up to clean up? So many people have visited the claypans recently after the rains and it appears not all have left only footprints!

Friends of Dave Nixon remember him at the beautiful claypans.

Alice Springs Landcare and the Friends of the Ilparpa Claypans, in conjunction with ALEC (Arid Lands Environment Centre), invite people of all ages to spare a few hours on the morning of Clean Up Australia Day, Sunday, March 1, to help make a difference for the future enjoyment of the Ilparpa Claypans, a Site of National Botanical Significance.

No need to register! Just turn up! Bring along your friends, family, neighbours and workmates if you wish.

Please make sure you bring enough drinking water for you and everyone you come with, as well as wearing hats, long sleeved shirts and closed toe shoes or boots.

Also bring gloves and bags if you can, otherwise we will have some available for you. Just a few hours of your time can make a huge difference for the claypans.

Make 2020 a year of eco-action! Because when the rubbish is gone, nature can carry on!

By the way, never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has, as Margaret Mead said.
