Big drops in Alice crime

Over the past eight months overall crime in Alice Springs is down 14%, driven by a strong decline in property offending, according to a media release by Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro.
Offences against the person have dropped by 16%, assaults are down by 19%, residential break-ins have fallen by 24% and commercial burglaries 38%, she says.
"These results reflect the government’s investment in frontline policing and a zero-tolerance approach to crime."
In the Territory, for the last financial year, 182 police officers have graduated "delivering a net increase of 77 officers to the frontline."
