Comment on Compromise was needed to save youth crime plan by Neil Woolcock.

I was at this meeting and felt embarrassed at the performances of Glen Auricht and Damien Ryan. Matt Paterson didn’t seem to have listened to Phil Alice’s presentation and asked questions that Phil had already covered.
Glen Auricht rambled on about nothing. Damien Ryan adopted the do nothing approach that has been a hallmark of recent councils.
The surprise was Jacinta Price. I thought she would have supported this proposal by Arrente elders, but she didn’t.
Good on Jimmy Cocking for at least keeping the dialogue alive. Let’s hope the outcome is more positive after more discussion. Something needs to be done in this town and Phil Alice’s proposal seems to make a lot of sense. I believe it would make a real difference. Nothing that is in place now is having any impact.

Government offered council up to $5m for Anzac Oval
I was told a while ago that the Melanka site would cost the government $10m to acquire.
This expense coupled with with the statement that the Melanka site was too small to accommodate the gallery plus landscaping plus car parking meant the site was unsuitable.
It seems a pretty big hunk of land to me, but if it is a bit small, couldn’t the car park be put underground?
The $10m didn’t seem too high to me when I was told the new rugby facility could cost $15m.

Anzac Oval will be site for gallery: Gunner
The government’s own advisory committee didn’t propose the Anzac Oval site as a possible location for the art centre.
Does anyone know who did propose it? Was it a local business person, or someone from the government?

Allegations, no proof on bottlo shut-down
My guess is most of the drunks had bought their booze elsewhere and were just hanging around the Pigglys vicinity.
I expect Pigglys has generally been doing the right thing.
