Hunter & Co Designs, a small family business in Alice Springs, will be represented in the Australian pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, expected to have more than 28 million visitors by October.

Founder Naomi Hunter says on the firm’s website: “I have always been quite crafty as a quiller (paper craft) and have been a loyal participant of annual local shows ever since I moved to the Territory 12 years ago.

“During the Covid lockdowns, my three young children started to do play dough, then I purchased polymer clay – and we haven’t look back.”

The wearable art, including a large range of earrings, are inspired by Central Australian natural locations such as Standley Chasm, Devils Marbles and Uluru and are now stocked in art galleries in the Northern Territory, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.

NT Asian Relations Minister Robyn Cahill says the government’s trade team had helped the firm to connect with the Expo.
