Well I guess the police did their bit, after all they caught the lad.
I especially like the use of the word impotent in the article.
Perhaps that could be used as a metaphor for the other agencies that should have been involved.
We pay taxes for the government agencies to do their job and pay mores taxes when they don’t. Then the victims of the crimes pay yet again.
It doesn’t make any sense to me but we keep voting in the pollies based on empty promises.
As the song goes “when will they ever learn…”

Surprised! I am guessing Maya did mean what if …
Unfortunately if I am correct, it’s actually a comment with racial undertones.
For the record, I don’t care if he was white, black, yellow or green.
My opinions would be exactly the same.
Why do some keep perpetuating the racial side?
It has nothing to do with race, it’s about breaking the laws and accountability for one’s actions.
When people talk about or ask about colour, they are the ones promoting racism.

@1 Maya, I am guessing you meant to say “Imagine, just imagine, if this boy had been white”.
Is that correct?

Well, I have been out there a few times.
I spoke to Ray about some of many improvements he has made as I thought he had done a fantastic job.
Ray introduced me to some of the Aboriginal workers and there were quite a few milling around doing various jobs.
Keep up the great work Ray.

Cops at bottle shops must stay: Lambley
Whilst the TBLs may be effective, using valuable police resources to do this is not.
Perhaps the Government should consider outsourcing this task to someone else.

Town camp attackers should face full force of law
Yet again, the gutless pollies along with the do-gooders will prevent any real penalties for those who commit violence against others.
You can talk all you like, but it will only be listened to if you removed any “substances” and if the person is willing to listen.
So, until that time, we will have to implement real penalties for those who commit violent acts, especially when it come to violence against police.
To the pollies and Do-gooders, SERIOUSLY try to imagine giving your loved ones a kiss goodbye before they go to work for the day, not knowing if the next time you see them, may be when you have to go to hospital or worse, the cemetery.
It’s a sad state of affairs, but this is what the police in this town put up with!
And no, I’m not interested that it happens everywhere, I am only interested that it happens in our town at the moment.
Perhaps Gunner, is Gunna do something when he gets A Round Tuit.

Police injured: Three incidents in one week
Beverley, you have clearly had a traumatic incident.
My point though, is that the police need to ALWAYS be respected and supported in their jobs.
They should not be above the law. If they break the law, they too should be held accountable.
But, most police are professional and their job is to deliver the messages (rules) of the governments that we vote for. So, it’s unfair to attack the messengers.
If we continue to encourage these attacks on the police as the government is now doing, we will end up in an ugly anarchical society with the ironic twist of hoping the police will help us.

Police injured: Three incidents in one week
While the Government continues to allow attacks on police, things will get worse.
Simply put, by having no serious penalties for attacks on police, our pollies are actually encouraging this disgusting behaviour.
It will get to some point, where someone gets badly hurt!
It is the employer’s lawful responsibility to provide a safe workplace, in this instance it’s the Government. While policing is of course a higher risk workplace, the Government still retains that responsibility, but more importantly should be held accountable when they neglect.
By doing nothing, attacks on police will continue and unfortunately get worse.
When some poor police officer shoots someone who is attacking them, all the do-gooders will be up in arms and the pollies will be running around like mice in a grain shed.
The unfortunate police officer will be subjected to all sorts of shit, because they were simply going about their job and got attacked.
Well, if I carried a gun in my job and had to use it, I would.
So, yet another challenge for the gutless fat cats, protect the police in their jobs, come down heavy on those who assault police, or be prepared for what happens.
